House For Sale...Again - 7/21/11

Last night we heard from our attorney that the home buyer for our house in Illinois did not qualify for financing to purchase our home. You would think that would mean that after having the house off of the market for the last month and a half, that we would at least get to keep the earnest money that they put down, right? Nope. As long as their attorney continues to ask for extensions, they get to keep the earnest money if we deny the extension...but we aren't allowed to list the house if we accept the extension. The only way we get the earnest money is if they stop requesting extensions (which, why would they?) therefore making them the ones who break the contract. So the whole earnest money thing, as it turns out, doesn't mean squat. Our house is now back on the market. It's a good thing that I am working again as every penny that I make will be going towards the mortgage of our empty house in Illinois.

I have so many things to say and feelings to express about this. For starters, @#$* %^* *%R* #$^ #$%#%^& ^*^$ #%* @%*( @$^& @^%$%^&! And another thing, $%^* *#^#& *)%&*%^ ^#&&(% @$%&&*(&% #*! So !$% ^&&(# *&(*)$ &*#$%$ #@%$&(_ ($^&% @$^!

If I had to sum it up in one word, that word would be $#1+! Or maybe #v(<! I can't decide between the two.

    Kinda like in kids basketball when our team trys to protect the ball and all the opponents have to do is get a grip on it and it's their ball. So not fair.

    I'm so sorry that your sale fell through, and without the earnest money! What a rip off! Maybe on the next offer you can get around the extension clause so that it's really EARNEST money. I've heard of a lot of these kinds of set backs so don't get discouraged, another buyer is out there!

    Don't be discouraged, Cheryl. The right people will come along at the right time. It may be tough now, but LOOK UP. My dad taught me that a long time ago. And he knew what he was talking about.
